Custom link shortening

Do you know (and use) the link shortening services?

Bit.ly, TinyUrl, Is.gd, ow.ly, su.pr and the rest of the bunch?
Well guess what they can offer better service& make some money and they don't realize it.
I'll share my idea, you guys spread it… :-)

Let's say I have a twitter account and I use bit.ly, obviously I want to get the maximum exposure to tweets. I write a wonderful, full of great content and keywords article in my site, give it great headers, and a URL with the keywords in it.

Now I want to post it on Twitter so I shorten it and get a funny short URL such as this one - http://ow.ly/15Gjip

Now I have 140 chars, no 120 chars (I want to be re tweeted…) minus the length of the URL to sell my new article, the odds are not so good…

What if the shortened URL looked like this - http://best.twt/app or http://gr8.ns/cars or http://pr.ty/babes I don't have any good ideas for names, but I'm sure other folks will know how to utilize these few chars.

Why should bit.ly do that?

How much does a domain cost? About 9$, will people pay for a shortened domain? My guess is defiantly.
I guess that in the future you'll be able to tweet a link like in any other HTML page, if TinyUrl can shorten a link into any word the users chooses even better! :-)

Now we only have to wait and see if I'm right.

Would like to hear your thoughts about this idea.
